The Texas economy continued to grow at a moderate pace, though the report reflects a mixed picture across industries. Banking, energy, and manufacturing were bright spots, while nonfinancial services slowed and housing remained soft.

A particularly encouraging takeaway was the strength of the banking sector. Loan demand improved across all major categories, loan performance strengthened for the first time since 2022, and bankers expressed greater optimism about future business activity. Commercial real estate also showed improvement, particularly in the industrial and office segments.

Still, businesses and households continue to navigate meaningful challenges. Higher input costs, labor shortages and geopolitical uncertainty are weighing on parts of the region. Many households are also feeling pressure from higher costs for essential goods, utilities, and healthcare.

Overall, while conditions remain uneven, the Texas economy continues to demonstrate resilience.  Stronger lending activity, improving credit performance, and growth in several key sectors are encouraging signs.  At Texas Security Bank, we remain focused on helping clients navigate these conditions and position their businesses for long-term success.
