This formal credit training program through Moody’s includes Foundations of Banking and Credit, which provides an overview of the banking industry, and examines how a bank earns money and manages risk, including credit risk; Financial Accounting for Business Lenders, which introduces the accrual accounting concepts that will help participants evaluate and analyze the financial statements of small and midsize businesses; Business Lending, which teaches participants how to use a framework to analyze business lending opportunities; and Commercial Real Estate Lending, which teaches best practices for analyzing, documenting, and managing commercial real estate loans.  In addition to the formal credit training through Moody’s, Commercial Banking Analysts will also be assigned over 20 modules on credit underwriting and credit administration through the bank’s Learning Management System (LMS).

Introduction To Bank Compliance

This training encompasses an in-depth discovery of the many rules and regulations that govern banking. It covers topics such as Fair Lending Regulations, Bank Secrecy Act, Cybersecurity Fundamentals and much more.  Banking is a well-regulated industry and knowing how to stay in compliance is an important part of the knowledge necessary to become a successful banker.

Periodic Lunch and Learn training sessions are scheduled using a formal curriculum on topics related to running a business, as well as individual book studies on Leadership Development and Sales. Our Commercial Banking Analysts get training and mentoring and access to our Senior Leadership Team.  Our CEO, Craig Scheef, is highly accessible and involved with our Commercial Banking Analysts and has monthly lunches with our Commercial Banking Analysts to provide career advice and time for Q&A sessions.  Our Senior Leadership Team as well as all our bankers (Managing Directors and Relationship Managers) take our Commercial Banking Analysts out on calls with prospects and clients, which is a great introduction to interacting with business owners and key decision makers.  Finally, our Commercial Banking Analysts attend all loan committee meetings which is a great way to learn about commercial lending and the different types of deals the bank is working on.
